The historical foundations of the flood in holy books

The objective of this study is to illustrate the historical foundations of the flood inhistorical scripts. The study which has been prepared in this direction is composed ofthe introduction, first section, second section, third section and conclusion section.The introduction section focuses on the subject, objective and significance of thethesis. Alongside this the religion, history and geographical features of the regionwhere the flood occurred has been explained. Additionally sources related to the mat-ter have been briefly referred to.In the first section the parts explaining the flood in The Koran, The Torah andThe Bible have been presented. In addition to this the incoherencies of the script inThe Torah about the flood has been mentioned. The reasons and sources of theseincoherencies have been emphasized and differences and similarities in relation tothese sources have been illustrated.In the second section historical scripts and related interpretations in relation tothis subject have been presented. Additionally, factors which have been effective inthe composition of these scripts have been mentioned.In the third section information obtained from historical sources have been evalu-ated. As a result of these evaluations some religious, legendary, historical, geo-graphical and mythological elements have been determined.The results obtained from this thesis study have been presented in the conclusionsection. Together with this the thesis has been finalized with the presentation ofsources and maps which have illuminated this topic.
