Abstract (EN)

Traditionally, standard I or H profiles are used for beam and column elements in steel building construction. However, there has been a tendency to use hollow structural sections as columns in recent years due to advantages such as mechanical strength, fire resistance, maintenance costs, aesthetics, and better space utilization. Additionally, bolted connections enhance stiffness and rigidity in welded connections. Moreover, this connection system can be easily dismantled, enabling the recovery of steel elements at the end of the building's service life. This thesis focuses on end-plate connections. The existing component-based design method for connection points in Eurocode 3 is generally suitable for the proposed new connection type. In this thesis, end plate connections according to Eurocode 3 were designed in 7 different positions, and 14 specimens were used, including specimens not exposed to fire and specimens exposed to fire. Comparisons were made between similar connection designs, both exposed and unexposed to fire, by comparing mechanical properties such as energy absorption capacity and load-carrying capacity of the seven different types of connections, each with a pair of specimens from the 14 specimens used, to find the ideal connection type with the best mechanical properties
