In this study, the concentrations of 51 elements (Li, Be, Na, K, Mg, Al, P, S, Ca, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Ge, As, Se, Rb, Sr, Y, Mo, Cd, Sn, Sb, Cs, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Eu, Sm, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu, Hf, W, Pt, Au, Pb, Bi, Tl, Th, U), and the amounts of particulate matter (PM2,5 ve PM2,5-10) were determined in the atmosphere of Bolu which is located at the West Black Sea Region of Turkey. Aerosol samples were collected in the period of February 2011 and February 2012 at the Abant Izzet Baysal University Golkoy Campus with a semi-rural atmosphere. Measured concentrations of trace elements at the Bolu station were compared with those measured at various sites around the world and as a result of comparison, concentrations of crustal elements (except for REE) in this study are found to be higher than those reported stations around the world. In addition, Cr concentration in fine mode and Cd concentration in coarse mode in Bolu station are higher than all the other sites. Concentrations of elements measured at Bolu station showed seasonal variations. Such variations in concentrations are explained by variations in the source strengths and transport patterns. Factor Analysis (FA) was applied to determine possible pollution sources. FA revealed six possible emission sources for fine fraction such as soil, coal and wood burning, iron-steel works, road dust, sea-salt and regional background. Also five possible pollution sources were determined for coarse fraction and these are soil, coal burning, road dust, sea-salt and long-range transportation. Lastly, possible pollution factor identification was supported with backtrajectories.
