Population displacement, an intricate phenomenon entailing the compelled or voluntary movement of individuals or groups from their habitual places of residence, serves as a critical nexus intertwining conflict, socio-political instability, and humanitarian crises. Its ramifications reverberate across societies and economies globally, delineating a spectrum of experiences ranging from internal migration to cross-border refugee flows. Over recent decades, the amplitude and intricacy of displacement have surged, propelled by protracted conflicts, environmental degradation, and socio-economic upheavals. Northern Iraq has experienced significant population transitions in recent decades, the result of a complex interaction of geopolitical, ethnic, and economic factors. Mandatory population relocation is very common, motivated by a combination of circumstances such as conflict, persecution, and environmental adversity. This phenomenon has arisen as a distinguishing feature that profoundly impacts the region's sociopolitical environment. The complicated dynamics of population displacement, which include both internal migration and refugee movements, provide an intriguing avenue for scholarly inquiry since they connect with wider concerns such as economic growth, societal cohesiveness, and regional stability. The consequences of these displacements go beyond immediate humanitarian concerns, dramatically changing the fundamental direction of Northern Iraq's growth destiny. This study endeavors to scrutinize the ramifications of population displacement on economic and social development in northern Iraq. A dataset comprising 302 surveys, inclusive of 138 females and 164 males, was systematically collected across various provinces, namely Erbil, Duhok, and Sulaymani. Subsequently, a rigorous analysis of the dataset was undertaken, employing statistical measures such as standard deviation and mean, alongside scrutinizing correlations between survey questions in pairs. Notably, the significance of these correlations was assessed utilizing a p-value threshold of 0.005, with findings indicating a statistically significant level of correlation, underscored by a p-value of 0.001. Findings reveal a complex relationship between population displacement and economic development, with both positive and negative impacts discernible.
