Abstract (EN)

Northwestern Aegean Region is affected by both south branch of North Anatolian Fault Zone and N-S extensional regime in West Anatolia. It is important that this study is the first study about crust structure of Northwestern Aegean Region. Therefore, for this area M > 2.5 earthquake data which occurred between 1993 and 2005 are used in this study. Computer programs are prepared and analysis is done using these data. Time-distance graphics and iso-velocity contour maps are prepared. In this study V1 velocity between 5.1 ? 5.5 km/sec, V2 velocity between 6.0 ? 6.5 km/sec and V3 velocity between 7.8 ? 8.0 km/sec are calculated. For the thickness of the crust, the 1st layer has values between 10-15 km and the 2nd layer has values between 16-22 km. Total crust thickness in Northwestern Aegean Region varies between 30 and 34 km. The crustal structure beneath the Northwestern Aegean Region is almost same as to global crustal model.
