Abstract (EN)

In this study, 140 M. mustelus (Linnaeus, 1758) and 1150 S. canicula (Linnaeus, 1758) individuals captured from the Northeastern Mediterranean Sea, some characteristics of growth and reproductive were investigated. The age composition of M. mustelus distribution of population varied between 0-25. Two age group was the dominant group. Female and male individuals in the population was % 47,14 and % 52,85, respectively. The total length and weight of M. mustelus varied from 44,3-162,6 cm, and 241,3-12060 g, respectively. The estimated parameters of von Bertalanffy growth equations were as L∞=195,13 cm, W∞=20060 g, k=0,06, to=-4,27. Length weight relation was summarized as the W = 0,0027L3,0054 (R2=0,98) for all individuals. The reproduction activity of M. mustelus in Northeastern Mediterranean occurred between January-April. Length at first maturity (LC50) was 109 cm in females and 92 cm in males. Sexual maturity was found as age 8 in females and 7 in males. The Fulton condition factor varied between 0,1485-2,878 for females and 0,1038-1,0241 for males. The age composition of S. canicula distribution of population varied between 0-9 for 2012-2013; 0-8 for 2013-2014. Five age group was the dominant group 2012-2013 and 2013-2014. Female and male individuals in the population was % 45,02 and % 54,98 for 2012-2013, % 52,26 and 47,73 for 2013-2014, respectively. The total length and weight of S. canicula varied from 15,6-51,0 cm, and 9,16-396,0 g for 2012-2013, 12,0-49,0 cm, and 4,13-346,0 for 2013-2014, respectively. The parameters of von Bertalanffy growth equations were as L∞=84,53 cm, W∞=1449 g, k=0,07, to=-2,30 for 2012-2013, L∞=84,46 cm, W∞=662,7 g, k=0,09, to=-1,95 for 2013-2014. Length weight relation was summarized as the W = 0,0024L3,0548 (R2=0,91); for 2012-2013, W = 0,0011L3,295 (R2=0,98) for 2013-2014, for all individuals. The reproduction activity of S. canicula in Northeastern Mediterranean occurred between November-December and May-June. Length at first maturity (LC50) was 34,94 cm in females and 35,04 cm in males for 2012-2013; 36,48 cm in females and 36,90 cm in males for 2013-2014 . Sexual maturity was found as age 5 in females and males for 2012-2013; 6 in females and males for 2013-2014. The Fulton condition factor varied between 0,2586-0,3374 for females and 0,2247-0,2921 for males. Key words: Growth, reproduction, M. mustelus, S. canicula, Northeastern Mediterranean
