Patriarchy, which has existed in the world for centuries, has determined the roles and responsibilities of the sexes, making men a privileged group and women more passive and vulnerable to exploitation. In the 15th century, with the emergence of colonialism, another system of oppression for women emerged. Expected to conform to the standards and expectations set by patriarchal society, women's responsibilities increased with the emergence of colonialism. She now also has to conform to the expectations of the colonizer, and this has pushed her further down the social hierarchy than her previous position. Consequently, things have become more difficult for women in third world countries. Not only are they subjected to actual colonial practices, but they are also colonized mentally and physically by patriarchal society, and it is called double colonization. The novels Last Chapter and Season of Migration to the North, written in the postcolonial period, take Moroccan and Sudanese women as examples and shed light on the life and double colonisation of women in colonial societies.
