Abstract (EN)

In this study longshore sediment transport and resultant shoreline changes havebeen investigated and numerically simulated under the effect of wind waves thatchange in time and in space and under the effect of water level changes. In thesimulations, numerical model GENESIS that includes the effects of coastalstructures like breakwaters, offshore breakwaters, sea walls, piers and groins.Model has been applied to shoreline of coastal city Ordu, Cumhuriyet andTurna Suyu Province. Long term wind analysis has been performed based on 16years(1990-2005) period hourly averaged wind data of Ordu and wind climatehas been determined. The longshore sediment transport rates and effects ofexistent coastal structures on the shoreline have been investigated. The shorelinechanges due to coastal structures proposed by Ministry of Transport SamsunRegional Directorate (UBSBM) to protect the shoreline have been analysed.Other alternative coastal structures have been proposed to protect the shorelineand their effects have been simulated.
