Abstract (EN)

A modeling study was conducted using the open-source Advanced Circulation Model (ADCIRC) to assess variations in sea level and velocity within Izmir Bay. These variations were analyzed in response to factors such as tides, atmospheric pressure, and wind, both temporally and spatially. The process involved compiling the source code of the ADCIRC model and deploying it on a local computer. The necessary input files were prepared, an unstructured model grid was established, tide coefficients for open boundary conditions were determined, and bathymetry data were collected—all accomplished using open-source tools and models. Atmospheric pressure and wind speed data were obtained from the ERA5 database with the assistance of a Python script. Subsequently, the obtained atmospheric data were compared with observations from Menteş, Pasaport, and Güzelbahçe stations. To run the model, the cloud-based, open-access DesignSafe CI environment was utilized. Finally, the simulation results obtained at various time intervals and periods were presented using open-source visualization tools.
