Abstract (EN)

In this study; phenolic components of the red pine (Pinus brutia) bark, which has a great potential in our country, have been examined. Samples were taken from Yalova province region where the red pine widelly spreads as the crust residues formed by the cutting of the trees. These samples were subjected to additional extraction procedures and analyzed for phenolic compounds by separating them into their chemical components. Extraction methods are compared with each other in the direction of the results obtained in the case of these analyzes. The highest tannin yield and contents in red pine have been found in improved extraction methods compared to traditional methods. Microwave assisted extraction and ultrasound assisted extraction yielded higher yield values in microwave assisted extraction at the same shell solvent ratios. When solvent consumption is considered, the maximum amount of solvent consumption is in the case of soxlet extraction and conventional aqueous solution extraction. This extraction is disadvantageous compared to the advanced extraction methods because long time extraction is required. Today, the use of environmentally friendly bio-based materials in production is increasing. In the production of this renewable biopolymer, the extraction stage is critical. While high extraction temperature and long extraction time increase the yield of extract during classical aqueous solution extraction, it causes negative results such as condensation, high impurity, thermal degradation and oxidative effect in shell tannins. In this study, it is aimed to achieve high efficiency and purity, less solvent and chemical usage and low energy consumption values in red pine bark tannin extraction with improving stage extraction specific extraction methods.
