Abstract (EN)

Miocene volcanic rocks are widely observed in Kütahya and its vicinity where is located in Agean Region. The purpose of this study to investigate mineralogical, petrographical and geochemical characteristics of volcanic rocks around Kızılkaya Tepe. Mesozoic and Cenozoic aged units are observed in study area. Basement units consist of ophiolitic rocks due to developing tectonic activity. Ophiolitic rocks overlain by volcanic units, volcanic units overlies unconformably clastic and carbonate rocks that indicates lacustrine and fluvial environment. When the volcanic rocks examined in detail petrographically, these rocks are composed of brown, reddish green and blackish coloured altered surface view, grayish, blackish and pinkish fresh fracture surface coloured basaltic trachyandesitic, basaltic andesite and andesite. According to the mineral contents these rocks consist of plagioclase, augite, olivine, locally biotite and opaque minerals, respectively. Accessory minerals include calcite and chlorite. Rocks are intersectal, hyaloporphyric, microlitic porphyric, hyalo-microlitic textures. Chemical classification diagrams: when samples settled in basaltic andesite, basaltic trachyandesitic and andesite areas, rocks large probability evolved magma source enrichment different partial melting degree and latter evolution of shallow magma chamber within continental crust developed magmatic event such as fractional crystallization ± magma mixing ± assimilation.
