Investigation of the discharge levels of dissolved inorganic nutrients from Kızılırmak and Yeşilırmak rivers to the Black Sea

In this thesis; it has been performed 14 sampling and measurements between 2014 – 2017 years with seasonal periods, at the points which rivers "Kızılırmak" and " Yeşilırmak" are poured themselves into the Black Sea, in Bafra and Çarşamba districts of Samsun. Researched water quality parameters are; pH, temperature, electrical conductivity, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, total hardness, total suspended solid (TSS), sulphate, chlorophyll-a, nitrate (NO3-–N), nitrite (NO2-–N), ammonium (NH4+–N), o-posphate (o-PO43-–P) and silicate (Si). In rivers "Kızılırmak" and "Yeşilırmak", seasonal average concentrations are determined by calculating nutrient elements' characteristic values and results are compared with limit values of the water quality criterias table according to relevant regulations of legislation in force. In river "Kızılırmak", calculated characteristic values (µM) for NO3-–N, NO2-–N, NH4+–N, o-PO43-–P and Si are respectively as 60,93; 3,06; 12,13; 1,03; 424. On the other hand values for river "Yeşilırmak" are determined as; 89,43; 1,79; 18,09; 7,00; 385. Furthermore, nutrient element loads transported to BlackSea by rivers are calculated using seasonal flow. Annual average NO3-–N, NO2-–N, NH4+–N, o- PO43-–P, Si, and AKM quantities transported to BlackSea from river "Kızılırmak" are determined respectively as 1430; 62; 329; 52; 24056; 34585 in tonnes. Whereas these numbers for river "Yeşilırmak" are determined as 4120; 62; 349; 243; 35048, 47445.
