An investigation of the postoperative review process of patients undergoing laparoscopic bariatric surgery according to gab-7 score

Obesity is a disease associated with more than one factor, which occurs with the deterioration of the body's energy regulation, metabolic, endocrine and behavioral changes in which the ratio of bodies fat mass to lean mass increases excessively. Morbid Obesity is defined as having a Body Mass Index of 40 or more. Laparoscopic Bariatric Surgery (LBS) method is one of the most preferred treatment methods for obezsity problem. The relationship between Anxiety Disorder and post-surgical recovery processes has been tested by empirical studies in different fields. In this study, the recovery quality, nausea and vomiting pain scores, patient satisfaction values in the postoperative period were compared according to the GAD-7 scores of patients with obesity who underwent laparoscopic bariatric surgery. 113 patients who underwent surgery were grouped according to their GAD-7 scores and the measured values were compared. Findings of this study showed no statistically significant difference between the study groups in parameters such as GAD-7 scores and recovery quality, patient satisfaction, pain scores, and nausea-vomiting rates. These findings suggested that in morbid obesity patients who underwent LBS, recovery from anesthesia may not be associated with the degree of GAD alone.
