Abstract (EN)

Transoral Laser Microsurgery Application in Larynx CarncerIn this study we aimed to evaluate the results of patients with larynx cancer underwent transoral laser microsurgery application in our clinic since 1998.This study was carried out between Jan 1998-Dec 2007 at Ear Nose Throat Department of Çukurova University Faculty of Medicine and 61 patient with larynx cancer who underwent transoral laser microsurgery application were included.In Glottic tumors laser microsurgery was applied according to criteria determined by of European Laryngology Association. In Supraglottic tumors microsurgery was performed as epiglottectomy for T1 tumors and as supraglottic laryngectomy in advanced tumors. Six Patient with Supraglottic lesion were as follows 2 in T1, 3 in T2, and 1 in T3 stage. Fifty four patient with Glottic tumor weren as follows 3 in Tis, 24 in T1a, 15 in T1b, 11 in T2, 1 in T3 stage. There was only one patient with Subglottic tumor.With laser microsurgery local control rate was 100 % in Glottic Tis tumors. With laser microsurgery local control rate was 95,8 % and larynx consevation rate was 100 % in Glottic T1a tumors. After laser microsurgery local control rate was 73.3 % in glottic T1b tumors and in glottik T2 tumors local control rate was 72,7% and larynx consevation rate was 81,8 %.With transoral laser microsurgery local control rate was 100% and larynx consevation rate was 100 % in patients with Supraglottic T1 lesions, in patients with Supraglottic T2 tumors local control rate was 100 %.Because of high local control and larynx conservation rates and short management duration Laser microsurgery can be safely performed in larynx cancers.Key words: CO2 laser microsurgery, larynx cancer,cordectomy
