Subalternity in Latife Tekin's novels

Power produces the knowledge of truth on which its domination is based, and determines the limits of social exclusion or social inclusion. These limits operate as a rule within the functionality of the truth regime and the rationality of differentiation by the power is established. Thus, the power re-establishes the domination continuously in a line of subjectivity and the practice of subjectivity also produces a practice of otherness. The aim of this thesis is to examine the social positions of the otherness described as social exclusion and to uncover the line of difference that the concept of 'subalternity' corresponds to. However, the concept of subaltern is much more than the inclusion of the phenomenon of difference and is addressed in relation to social positions far from access to the possibilities of power. Emphasis is drawn on the way in which dichotomization presents the sense of deprivation brought about by the production of the forms of difference and non-speaking on both the political and economic levels and the experience of life as the other. At the same time, the dimension of non-representation marked by exclusion from the areas of visibility and recognizability of subalternity is considered in relation to the construction and reproduction of the sovereign subject. In this context, this study is based on Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak's text, Can the Subaltern Speak?: Reflections on the History of an Idea, and focuses on the method of exceeding the subalternity cycle by elucidating the theoretical background of subalternity. Thus, the study aims to comprehend the implications of the subalternity which the author constructs in a literary language with a political sensitivity by considering novel analyzes in relation to Spivak's theory.
