Effects of IBA and mycorrhiza applications on rooting and seedling development of cuttings of lavander species (Lavandula spp.)

Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACT This study was conducted to determine the appropriate IBA dose for rooting of lavender cuttings during the propagation stage and to examine the effect of mycorrhizal fungus application on the seedling conversion rate and seedling development of the rooted cuttings. The research was carried out in a fully controlled polycarbonate greenhouse located in the Gaziosmanpaşa University Agricultural Research and Application Center Experimental Area under Tokat-Kazova conditions in the vegetation period of 2021. In this study, cuttings of three different lavender varieties were dipped in control doses of 0, 1000 ppm, 1500 ppm, 2000 ppm, 2500 ppm, 3000 ppm, 3500 ppm and 4000 ppm IBA doses and planted in controlled greenhouses with perlite, and fogging was applied to prevent moisture loss. After 60 days, when a sufficient number of roots were observed, the cultivars were grouped, subjected to mycorrhizal fungus application and observations were made. The results of the study have shown that better results were obtained with the application of 2500 ppm IBA in cuttings from three different lavender varieties, whereas the appropriate dose may vary depending on the variety. The expected result from mycorrhizal fungus application was not achieved. The results could be associated with the presence of specificity between the plant species and the type of mycorrhizal fungus.
