Abstract (EN)
Fiber reinforced post has been prefered frequently because of their similar physical properties to the dentin, chemically bonding to dentin and biocompatible. The aim of this study was to evaluate the bond strength and the microleakage of glass-fiber posts cemented with different adhesive systems on laser-etched roots.120 human mandibular premolars, extracted for orthodontic and periodontal reasons, were used in the study. Teeth were classified in two groups for push-out bond strength test (n=60) and microleakage test (n=60). Each group was divided 6 subgroups (n=10).Er:YAG laser etching was applied on root canal walls for 3 subgroups. One type of glass fiber post was used in the study. Fiber posts were cemented with three different adhesive systems: Total-etch, self-etch, self-adhesive. For push-out test, 3 dentin discs (2mm thickness) were obtained from each tooth and bonding strengths of fiber posts were measured. Dye penetration method was used for evaluation of coronal microleakage. Linear microleakage was measured under a stereomicroscope. Bonding interfaces and operated surfaces were examined by scanning electron microscobe. Data were analyzed by one way ANOVA and Tukey LSD statistical tests. The highest bonding strength was observed total-etch and self-adhesive resin cement groups applied laser etching (p˂0.05). The least bonding strength was obtained self-etch resin cement group (p˂0.05). The most microleakage was detected self-adhesive resin cement group (p˂0.05). There were no statistically significant differences between the other microleakage groups (p˃0.05).Bonding strength was increased by laser etching in all resin cement systems. Microleakage was reduced by laser etching in self-adhesive resin cement system. Key words: Adhesive, Bond strength, Er:YAG laser, Fiber post, Microleakage.
