Examination of LGS and TEOG science exam questions according to the renovated Bloom Taxonomy

Abstract (EN)
In this study, the science questions of the nationwide high school entrance exams of Turkey were examined according to the criteria of the Revised Bloom's Taxonomy (RBT). In the study, 2014-2015 academic year 2nd term TEOG Science questions and 2020 LGS Science questions were investigated according to Revised Bloom's Taxonomy. Document analysis, one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the study. A total of 40 questions were classified according to the knowledge dimension and cognitive process steps of the RBT, and their percentages and frequencies were calculated. The result of the study shows that TEOG and LGS Science questions were clustered in certain cognitive process steps and knowledge dimensions. It was observed that the number of questions in the analyze & conceptual knowledge dimension and in the understand & metacognitive process steps were higher than in the other steps of RBT. In the analyzed questions, it was found that the percentage of questions measuring higher level skills is low. There were no questions at the create stage in both central exams. It is concluded that special attention should be paid to the preparation of high school entrance exam questions according to RBT criteria and a more equal distribution of questions according to RBT stages should be sustained.
