The effect of the dark side of leadership on organizational opposition and psychological well-being: A field research

Abstract (EN)

The main purpose of this research is to examine the effects of academics' dark leadership perceptions on organizational opposition and psychological well-being. Quantitative research method was adopted in the study. The population of the research consists of academicians and other employees working at the central campus of Erzincan Binali Yıldırım University. The sample consists of 419 people who were included in the research by simple random method. Data were collected through the survey technique. Dark leadership, employee-organizational opposition and psychological well-being scales were given to the participants of the research to be answered. Regression, correlation, DFA and frequency analyzes were performed with the measurement model on the data obtained in the study. SPSS 25 and IBM Amos 24 package programs were used in the analysis. According to the results of the analysis; It has been determined that the harassing and bullying dimensions of dark leadership have a negative effect on the vertical and external dimensions of organizational opposition. In addition, insincere, harassing and bullying dimensions of dark leadership have been found to have a negative effect on psychological well-being. According to these results, as employees' dark leadership perceptions increase, organizational opposition and psychological well-being decrease. As another result, it has been found that psychological well-being has a positive effect on organizational dissent.
