The effect of leadership characteristics on employee motivation: A research on asset management companies

Leadership is accepted as the ability to influence and direct people consciously and regularly in line with a specific purpose and objectives. Therefore, an excellent leader is not only the one who guides his employees to achieve success but also who is in the position of a person instillsing a sense of trust in his employees, demonstratesing his ability to persuade in every subject, and often motivating his employees. Motivation is a very important leadership task for the organization, as it transforms an employee's knowledge, skills and abilities into actual work behavior and work performance. The aim of this study is to reveal the effects of leadership characteristics on employee motivation. In line with this purpose, as a result of the survey conducted on 306 asset management company employees, it was seen that while the age, gender and position of the participants in the company and autocratic leadership differed significantly, the educational status of the participants and democratic leadership, liberating leader and transformational leadership differed significantly. As a result of the study, it was also concluded that the participants' age, gender, marital status, educational status, position in the company, working time in the company, income level and motivation did not differ significantly.
