49 7-SUMMARY A COMPARISON AND EVALUATION OF THE GRADUATE PROGRAMS AT PHYSICAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENTS The aim of the study is to investigate the present situation of both M.A and Ph.D. programs at physical education departments in Turkey. After describing the actual situation at these programs, it is hoped that the study will be of great use both to improve and to standardize the programs in Turkey. The data of the study was collected from the student catalogs, formal documents and the questionnaires gives to the students of many universities including Ankara, Akdeniz, Atatürk, Cumhuriyet, Çukurova, Dicle, Dokuz Eylül, Erciyes, Fırat, Gazi, Hacettepe, Harran, Inonu, istanbul, Marmara, On Dokuz Mayıs, Selçuk, Trakya, Uludağ, Kütahya, Karadeniz Teknik, Ortadoğu Teknik, Niğde and Sakarya. The findings reveal that there are many differences among the programs at the levels of courses offered, course descriptions, and the credits corresponding to each course. In conclusion, it is recommended those graduate programs of physical education departments reorganize and reform their programs and reach to a common model.
