The examination of the attitudes of high school students against the physical education lesson and tehir sportsmanship behaviours in the lesson (the case of Elazig)

The aim of the study is to examine the attitudes of high school students against the Physical Education lesson and their sportsmanship behaviours in the lesson. The research is quantitative, and descriptive and relational scanning models were used. The population of the research was comprised of the high schools in the city of Elazıg. Random sampling method was used as the sampling of the research. Of the students, who voluntarily participated in the study, 248 were from the Science High School, 245 from the Anatolian High School, 183 from the Sports High School, 208 from the Fine Arts School, 167 from the Vocational High School, making 1051 in total as 534 females and 517 males. In the thesis study, the individual information form prepared by the researcher, the attitude and sportsmanship scale of the Physical Education lesson were used. The SPSS 23,0 program was used to test the hypothesis of the study. In the analysis of the obtained data, MannWithney U was applied in the paired comparisons, Kruskal Wallis-H was applied in the comparisons more than two, and the correlation test (Spearman Correlation) was applied to measure the level of the relationship between scales as well as the descriptive statistics such as arithmetic average, standard deviation, N/% and normal distribution test (Kolmogorov-Smirnov). The LSD test was applied in the paired comparisons performed so as to determine between which groups there was a meaningful difference. In was concluded in the study that the genders of the students affect their attitudes against the Physical Education lesson and their sportsmanlike behaviours, and the age and class factor of the students are effectual on the positive behaviours against the Physical Education lesson and there is a positive relationship between the attitudes of the students against the Physical Education and their sportsmanship behaviours.
