The relationship between body satisfaction and social media addiction and social media attitude in high school students

The aim of this research is to examine the body satisfaction levels of high school students and to determine the relationship between body satisfaction, social media addiction and social media attitudes. Descriptive and relational scanning methods were used in the research. The participants of the study consisted of 925 high school students. Independent sample t-test, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Pearson correlation technique tests were used in the analysis of the data. As a result of the research, it was found that high school students' body satisfaction levels were high, social media addiction levels were low, and their attitudes towards social media were average. As another result of the research, the body satisfaction levels; differs according to gender; however, it was concluded that there was no difference according to grade level, general academic achievement level, mother's education level and father's education level. In addition, it was concluded that there is a low level and negative relationship between the body satisfaction levels and their social media addiction and social media attitudes; there is a moderate and positive relationship between social media addiction and social media attitudes. Finally, it was found that there is a moderate and positive relationship between the body satisfaction level and the positive feedback they received from their environment about their appearance; there is a low-level and negative relationship between receiving negative feedback from the environment about their appearance. Similarly, it was concluded that there is a low and positive relationship between the body satisfaction levels and the status of uploading photos to social media applications; there is a low-level and negative relationship between the status of playing/changing the photos uploaded to social media and social media.
