Özet (EN)

High school students in adolescence may need some basic needs such as power, belonging, freedom and having fun. It is also seen that these individuals may exhibit some risky behaviors depending on their period and school environment. In this context, investigating the relationship between high school students' risk behaviors and their basic needs becomes an important issue. In this study, it is aimed to investigate the risk taking behaviors of high school students in terms of various variables and basic needs. In this context, a questionnaire consisting of demographic information form, Basic Needs Scale and Risky Behavior Scale in Adolescents was applied to 842 students in various high schools in Kütahya in 2018-2019 academic year. The data obtained were analyzed with SPSS package program. As a result of the study, it was found that risk taking behaviors of high school students differ according to gender, parental marital status, parental education level and type of shelter that they live in. It was found that there was a negative relationship between risk taking behavior and belonging need of high school students, and a positive relation between need of entertainment and freedom.
