Abstract (EN)
The main purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between self-esteem levels and aggression levels of secondary school students. Another aim of the study is to determine whether the levels of aggression of students change depending on their age, gender and the time spent on the Internet. The research method of this study was conducted with general screening model and the random sampling method was used. The universe of the research consists of secondary school students in Istanbul in 2017-2018 academical year. The sample of the study consisted of 269 students. From those students, 135 of them are female, 134 of them are male. Moreover, from those students, 114 of them are Anatolian high school students and 155 of them are vocational high school students. The data were collected with the personal information form, Rosenberg Self-Esteem Inventory and Buss & Perry Aggression Scales (1992). Data were obtained by SPSS for Windows statistical package program. As a result of the study, no significant relationship was found between self-esteem and aggression. No significant relationship was found between aggression and age variables. According to the data, anger was higher in males and enmity was higher in females. There was a significant relationship between school achievement and physical and verbal aggression, school absenteeism and verbal aggression, daily television viewing time and physical and verbal aggression, autumn internet usage time and physical aggression. In the conclusion section, research data are explained and in the suggestions section, various suggestions are given.
