Abstract (EN)
Purpose: The aim of this study; to investigate the effect of laterality on agility performance in high school student. Material and Method: It was realized with the participation of 29 male students, 14 right handed and 15 left handed. A hand- held lateralizaion determination survey will be applied to the research group first. Later, Illinois, 505, zig-zag, hexagonal, vertical jmp (DS) and long jump tests were applied to the research group. SPSS 23 is about the package program. In the test normals, it was evaluated with the Kolmogorov-Simirov test. Variables that did not show. Independent samples were analyzed by ındependent samples t-test. Results: The average age of the research group (n:14; age; 15.36±0.63; height: 172.36±6.99 cm; body weight;68.61±13.43 kg). The left hand group averages are (n=15; age: 14.67±1.11; height: 167.93±8.43 cm; body weight; 63.27±11.20 kg) . Independent samples t-test showed a significant difference in favor of the left- handed group (p<0,05). As a result of Independent samples t-test, it was found that there was a statistically significant difference in favor of the left-handed group only in hexagonal agility test (p<0.05). İn other agility tests, no statiscally significant difference was found in comparison between the groups. Conclusions: In agility tests, the left-handed group was found to be mathematically more successful than the right-handed group. The fact that both groups have mathematically close values in agility tests shows that laterality is not very dominant in agility, but it is a reason for preference by coaches because left-handed athletes are opposed to their competitors. Fort his reason, it is thought that some agility tests should be used effectively because they show development significant mathematically, if not statisticall.
