Examining the relationship between high school students' perceptions of school climate and their attitudes to sports (Muş province sample)

In this research, it is aimed to analyze in terms of different factors by determining the connection between highscool students' school climate perceptions and their attitude towards sport. In the research, correlational survey model which is part of the quantitative approach, is used. Target population of the study constitude the Sport Highschool, Social Science Highschool, Science Highschool, Religious Vocational Highschool and Fine Arts High School which are affiliated with the ministry of national education in Muş. The sample of research is included 712 ( age=16.14±1.26) highscooler in total of whom 240 are women who change their age range between 14-19 ( age =16±1.27), and 472 are men ( age=16±1.26). 'Personal Information Form' which is constituted by researcher, ' School Climate Perception Scale' which is developed by Çalık and Kurt (2010), 'Attitude Scale Towards Sports' which is developed by Şentürk (2015) as data collection tool. Descriptive statistics, independent samples t-test, one way analysis of variance (ANOVA), Pearson correlation analysis are used in order to analyse the data. It is established that high school students' school climate scroes are different in terms of gender, class level, family income, participation of school sports, weekly exercise frequency and type of school (p<.05), and they are not different in terms of educational level of parents and licensed sports (p>.05) when reserach findings are examined. Results show significant differences in terms of gender, participation of school sports, licensed sports, weekly exercise frequency and type of school (p<.05), on the other hand there is no difference in terms of class level, family income, educational level of parents (p>.05). In conclusion, it is determined that there are semantic relations between school climate scores and attitude towards sports of studens (p<.05).
