Investigation of the relationships between psychological resilience, perceived social support and future expectations of high school students

The aim of this research is to examine the relationships between psychological resilience, perceived social support and future expectations of high school students. The study group of the research consists of 698 students studying at the high school level affiliated with the Ministry of National Education in the central districts of Şahinbey and Şehitkamil in Gaziantep province. Personal Information Form to collect information about demographic characteristics, Child and Youth Psychological Resilience Scale Short Form (ÇGPSS-12) to measure psychological resilience levels, Multidimensional Perceived Social Support Scale (MDPSS) to measure perceived social support levels, and future expectations levels to measure Adolescent Future Expectations Scale (EGDS) was used. Data were analyzed using One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), Independent Sample t-test, Pearson Moment Correlation and Multiple Regression methods. As a result of the research, significant relationships were found between high school students' psychological resilience, perceived social support and future expectations. A moderate positive relationship between perceived social support and psychological resilience was determined. It was determined that there was a moderate positive relationship between psychological resilience and future expectations. It was determined that there was a moderate positive relationship between perceived social support and future expectations. According to the results of multiple regression analysis, future expectations and perceived social support significantly predicted psychological resilience. While psychological resilience and perceived social support levels differ significantly according to gender, socioeconomic level, parents' education level, and need for psychological support; It was determined that there was no significant difference according to grade level and parents' relationship status. While the level of adolescent future expectations varies significantly according to gender, socioeconomic level, and need for psychological support; It was determined that there was no significant difference according to grade level, parents' relationship status, and parents' education level.
