Some variance predicting high school students' trait anger and anger expression levels

This research is a related study about whether or not the highschool students' self-esteem, self-confidence, loneliness level, irrational beliefs and state-trait anxiety levels predict trait anger and anger expression levels. The research has been made on 620 students chosen randomly in the 9l, 10 and 11th grade-level of Cumhuriyet Highschool, Yahya Kemal Beyath Highschool, Tuzlu Çayır Highschool and Alparslan Highschool in Ankara. In the research, the highschool students' trait anger and the level of their expression are measured by "Trait Anger and Anger Expression Scale", their self- esteem is measured by "Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale", their self-confidance is measured by "Piers-Harris Children's Self Concept Scale", their loneliness level is measured by "UCLA Loneliness Scale", their irrational beliefs is measured by "Irrational Beliefs Test" and their anxiety level is measured by "State-Trait Anxiety Inventory". In this research, the students' trait anger and anger expression levels are evaluated by the independent variances (self-esteem, self-confidence, loneliness, irrational beliefs and anxiety) through "Stepwise Multiple Regression Analysis" technique. In this research, the least error is accepted as 0.05. In this research, on the variance of trait anger, self-confidence, state anxiety and loneliness predictor variances are considered to be predictor and it has been found out that these variables explain the % 12.4 of the variance of the trait anger points and that the other variances (self-esteem, irrational beliefs and trait anxiety) aren't important predictor on the level of 0.05. Moreover, it has been determined that self-confidence and state anxiety predictor variances are important predictor of the dimension of the anger-out and these variance explain % 8.6 of the total of the variance; self-confidence, loneliness and self-esteem predictor variances are important predictor of the dimension of the anger-in and these variances explain % IV14.7 of the total variance; self-confidence, state anxiety and loneliness predictor variances are important predictor of the dimension of the anger-control and these variances explain the % 13.1 of the total variance.
