Determination of the recreational trends of high school and university students (example of Bartin province)

This reseach is done with the purpose of determining the recreational tendencies of university and high school students. The core of this research is 7344 students of Bartın University belonging to formal education and 8806 high school students belonging to formal education in the center of Bartın province; approximately 16150 students, 1042 high school students and 943 university students and total 1985 students are studied by being using random sampling. The method of questionnaire was practiced in order to gather data in this research. The statistical evaluation is determined in the frequency modulation (f); on the table of simple distribution, the percentage of distribution according to the variant and the verities which were obtained by being used non-parametric Mann-Whitney U techniques were reached with the packet statistic programme. The frequency of varities for all the questions were stated and their percentages were calculated. In addition, the level of significance was accepted as p<0.05. In conclusion, it is determined that university students have more time for free time activities and they use this time with the accompanying of their friends on the activities which are both aimed at developing social, cultural skills and entertainment. On the other side, high school students spend their free time by watching tv at home, reading and listening to music. Morever, it is found out that there are certain differences in terms of determining the recreational activities, the facilities at schools, institutions and activities between high scool and university students.
