Relationship between proficiency levels of school principals in high schools and the job satisfaction of teachers

The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between the proficiency levels of school principals working in high schools and the job satisfaction of teachers .In the study random sampling method was used with quantitave research technique. Descriptive and relational screening methods were used in the sub- problems. To this end,it was examined whether the opinions of the assistant principals and teachers differ according to gender,age,marital status,educational level, vocational seniority and high school type in order to determine the relationships between the qualifications of the school principals and the job satisfaction of the teachers.The study group consisted of 450 teachers and school administrators working in 25 high schools Muratpaşa, Konyaaltı,Kepez,Döşemealtı and Aksu districts in the province of Antalya. A Managerial Competency Scale consisting of three subscales developed by the researcher and a job satisfaction scale developed by Paul Spector were applied to teacher and assistant principals participating in the research.The obtained data were analyzed using the SPSS 20.0 package program. In the analysis of the data , t test and one way analysis of variance ( ANOVA )were used . Scheffe ,Tukey HSD and Dunnett's C multiple comparison test were used in order to understand which groups differ significantly according to the one-way ANOVA test result. In addition, the Pearson Correlation Coefficient technique was used. According to the findings, it was seen that there was a meaningful ,positive and low level of relationship between teachers perceptions of school principals competences and their job satisfaction.It has been found that as teachers perceptions of the adequancy of school principals incresase, their views on their own job satisfaction increase.
