Examination of essay style in high school literature 1,2,3 course books

In the study finding essay texts in high school 1,2,3 course books that are used for teaching essay style, author and era of the text, and based on those findings determining the way they are used in education and how it should be handled to be more efficient educationally has been aimed. Twenty five essay texts taken from eight high school first grade, four high school second grade, and five high school third grade literature course books that were advised in Tebliğler journal number 2561 has been evaluated. Appropriateness of essay texts that is selected to the Literature 1, 2, 3 Coursebooks to the purpose of Turkish Language and Literature course has been examined. Compability of essay texts, which has a positive effect on cognitive development of studends, with the Literature curriculum has been discussed. Essay texts in the course books have been evaluated in terms of studies that are done on the text like the selection reason, preparation studies, explanations about the text, and under-text questions. The way essay style, the author, and era of the text are tried to be taught with the selected texts has been described. Based on result of the examinations, suggestions to make essay texts that are selected to the Literature course books more effective and active has been presented.
