Risk management in logistics and an application

The aim of this study is to examine logistics and risk management concepts that come into prominence and the explanation of risks that occur in the logistics processes. By the implementation of management functions over these risks, how plants can support their basic functions efficiently has been considered. This thesis consists of two parts. In the first part, definitions of logistics notion, logistics evolution, risks in the logistics practices and management of these risks are mentioned. The risks in logistics processes are examined in two parts as internal and external to the business. How these risks are formed is defined by examples. Under the influence of global risks, causes of logistics risks are investigated. In the logistics risk management process, risk assessment, analyze steps and analyze techniques are stated. Logistics risk management models are examined in supply, demand, information and product management processes and the steps that can be taken against disruption risks are considered. In the second part, logistics processes, the risks and some applications in these practices are examined in Oyak-Renault Automobile Factory, Aroma Bursa Fruit Juice Inc. and Cokunöz Inc. via interviews and secondary sources. In this study it?s stated that, the basic risks in logistics processes are focused at supply both in theory and application. Also supplier uncertainties are tried to be removed by multi-supplier practices. Keywords: Logistics, Logistics Risks, Supply Chain Risk Management
