Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this research is to compare and evaluate violin method books used at the London College of Music and the Royal Academy of Music certificate programs, which are also widely used in Turkish violin education. The first three volumes of the programs' books were analysed and assessed in terms of technical, musical and aural contexts. After analyzing and comparing the methods, certain criteria emerged, and then ten Turkish violin teachers were asked to evaluate the analyses of the books and their context based on those criteria. In this study, the descriptive method and survey were used and qualitative data was collected through text analysis and interviews. The findings were displayed as tables and indicated that the first three volumes of method books were similar in terms of their contents as beginning violin methods. The evaluation of the contents and their effectiveness were compatible with the views of the educators. The results of this thesis may guide future researchers who wished to construct beginning-level violin program and write violin books that incorporate traditional Turkish music materials.
