Abstract (EN)
The outstanding fuels used in engines as an alternative to the petroleum based fuels are liquid petroleum gas, natural gas, hydrogen, biogas, alcohol. These fuels are used commonly in many countries. The alternative use of liquid petroleum gas in engines depends on the reserve richness, availability of producing it out of natural gas, in addition to its being environmentally-friendly. As LPG engines emit lower pollutant emissions to environment compare to hydrocarbon fuels, the goverments support the using LPG by decreasing taxes.One of the major problem of the SI engines running with LPG is the misfire which occors at cold start conditions as ignition temperature of LPG is higher than gasoline As results of misfire of LPG, HC emissions are very high at the first 120 seconds after the engine is started.In this study, four glow plugs are mounted downstream of inlet valve of the engine. The glow plugs were taken into operation during first 120 second keeping air inlet temperature at 60 0C. HC emissions were measured and the results werw given comparatively.An additional study has also been conducted for investigating the effects of various LPG marketing in Sakarya region on performance and the cost analysis has been mad for 50 liter consumptions.
