Protective effects of Lupeol on acute exercise-related oxidative stress in male rat

Abstract (EN)

Acute exercise, especially when done at high intensity, leads to an increase in free radical production due to increased oxygen consumption. Lupeol is known for its antioxidant and sterol properties, as well as its free radical inhibitory properties in anticancer and anti-inflammatory conditions. The aim of our study was to determine the protective effects of lupeol on acute exercise-induced oxidative stress in male rats. In our study, 6 months old, 200±250 g. Weight of 24 spraque dawley rats were used. Experimental animals were randomly selected and divided into four groups. Blood samples taken after the animals were sacrificed (cervical dislocation) after acute exercise; enzymatic antioxidants, (SOD), (CAT), (MDA); nonenzymatic group, (GPx), coenzyme Q10 and a-lipoic acid enzymes were examined and oxidative stress levels were measured from the serum of blood samples taken by ELISA method. All analyzes of the groups were made with the statistical program of the analysis results, and the significance level was accepted as p<0.05. As a result; It has been determined that lupeol contributes positively to the antioxidant level produced by the body and helps in suppressing oxidants, and it has been observed that free radicals caused by oxidative stress, which occur as a result of high-intensity exercise, are reduced by lupeol. Accordingly, it was determined that the use of lupeol in exercise in experimental animals exposed to oxidative stress inhibited free radicals caused by stress, which supports the hypothesis of the study.
