Abstract (EN)

This study aims to describe how music is taught to children and how children perceive musical education through Music Learning Theory (M.L.T) of Prof. Edwin E. Gordon, supply information about educational and technical issues, analyze musical education in early childhood and similarities with M.L.T, provide new methods to instructors to utilize in teaching violin for children aged six or over, analyze this process and create a Turkish resource on approaches of M.L.T. The first part concentrates on guiding and instructing children so that they can efficiently internalize and fully grasp music, which is the fundamental principle of Gordon's M.L.T method, a culmination of years of preliminary research. There is information about the importance of music education, its contributions and similarities to M.L.T in early childhood. Though M.L.T bears resemblance to certain approaches in musical instruction, it has established itself as a distinct educational model. The second part deals with musical instruction through the M.L.T method. It provides information on technical issues, teaching process and necessary materials. The third part describes the implementation of the M.L.T method on the violin. The study focuses on the violin lessons offered to children aged six and over at the Olten Philharmonic Art School. Through the observation of these lessons, new conclusions have been drawn on the way M.L.T lessons are performed and thus new teaching methods have been devised. In line with these findings, several suggestions have been offered.
