Abstract (EN)

The history of education is at least as old as history itself. Present-day societies have been subject to education since the beginning of time. The Ottoman Empire was a state with a specific educational process and methodology. Educational developments began to be implemented in economic, military, and administrative systems. The modernization process made existing education more systematic and comprehensive. Data on education was recorded primarily in journals published by the Ministry of National Education. These journals provided crucial documentation for tracing reforms and developments in education. The İhsaiyat Journal, which documents developments and innovations in education, the increase in the number of schools, student enrollment, teacher training, and other training programs, is a significant document in the history of education. We believe that the impact of these educational policies on the regions will be significant. In 1924, the Ministry of National Education consolidated its structure. In Trabzon, this law changed the structure of general education policies, and the number of primary and secondary schools began to increase in line with the Republic's educational policies. The founding of the Republic of Turkey was a critical period of radical changes in education. Efforts were undertaken to modernize the educational system inherited from the Ottoman Empire and implement reforms at all levels of education. The Ottoman-era curriculum could be revamped to align with the Republic's educational approach, and course content was based on standard foundations, taking into account modern standards. In Trabzon, there was an increase in the proportion of girls enrolled in schools during this period, and the employment of female teachers was encouraged. These educational developments established fundamental patterns not only in Trabzon but throughout Turkey, playing a critical role in the continuation of modernization in the past. This study examines the impact of educational reforms in Trabzon during the early years of the Republic, with a specific focus on Turkish Education History. The social and cultural structure of Trabzon between 1923 and 1926 is considered, and educational developments are analyzed according to the Ihsaiyat Magazine systems.
