Education in Kastamonu according to the Maarif and Provincial Yearbooks (1869-1903)

This study aims to reveal the educational situation in Kastamonu province between 1869- 1903 in the context of Kastamonu Province Yearbooks and Education Yearbooks. As a result of the study, the educational institutions that were found to exist in Kastamonu province in the mentioned years are primary schools, primary schools, junior high schools, high schools, industrial schools and schools belonging to minorities. However, other institutions other than schools related to education are mosques and masjids, hangahs, lodges and zawiyas, churches, monasteries and libraries. In addition, the change in the number of current students and teachers in educational institutions according to years is among the important findings in the study. In this respect, it can be said that the research will make important contributions to the period studies and fill an important gap in the education history of Kastamonu Province between 1869-1903. Historical research method was used in the study and the data were subjected to descriptive analysis.
