The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between attachment styles and alexithymia level of individuals who received substance abuse treatment in Ankara AMATEM. The sample is composed of 270 people. In this research using descriptive scanning model, Demographic Information Form, Near Relevant Experiences Inventory II developed by Brennan et al. (1998) and adapted to Turkish by Selçuk et al. (2005) and Toronto Alexithymia Scale TAS-26 developed by Taylor et al. (1985) and adapted toTurkish by Dereboy (1990) were used as data collection tool. In this study, descriptive analysis was performed as data analysis. In addition, regression analyzes were performed among several variables in accordance with there search questions. According to the results of regression analysis of alexithymia and attachment styles, alexithymia does not change according to sex. Avoidance of attachment is reported higher in women. All sample, there is no correlation between the total score of alexithymia and attachment styles. At the same time, there is no mediating effect of some socio-demographic variables between the total score of attachment anxiety and alexithymia. In males, there is a limited meaningful predictive relationship between the anxiety of attachment and alexithymia. However, the median effect of addiction duration and family story was examined in the whole sample because of the significant association between attachment anxiety and inability to distinguish emotions and physical sensations. According to the results obtained, the relation between the sevariables is consistent with the literature. The results of the research were compared with the results of the researches in the literature.
