Abstract (EN)

This study was carried out descriptively and cross-sectionally in order to determine the predictive effect of attachment styles and emotion regulation difficulties and mindful attention levels of the patients on substance use disorder (SUD). The sample of the study consisted of 182 outpatients who were hospitalized in Ahmet Şireci AMATEM, a state hospital in Gaziantep. Informed Consent Form, Personal Information Form, Experiences in Close Relations Inventory II (ECRI-II), Difficulties in Emotional Regulation Scale (DERS), Mindful Attention Awareness Scale (MAAS), Treatment Motivations Questionnaire (TMQ) were used for data acquisition. The data were acquired by way of IBM SPSS(Statistics for Windows Version 21.0, Armonk, NY, IBM Corp) package software. Anova T-test, Kruskal-Wallis H Test, Man Whitney U Test were used to put forth the behavior differences of group averages when evaluating the study data; Spearman's Rank Correlation Test was used to measure the strength and direction of the relationship between two continuous variables. Scale total scores of the patients; It was determined as ECRI-II 3.82 ± 0.65, DERS 105.2 ± 19.59, MAAS 55.63±11.65, for TMQ 66.78 ± 12.84. There was a negative correlation between ECRI-II and MAAS total score, between ECRI-II and DERS total score there was a statistically significant relationship (p <0.05). When the motivation of treatment was evaluated on the total score with all subheadings, it was found that there was a negative correlation between avoidant attachment style and positive relationship with anxious attachment style, awareness related to emotion regulation, refusal to accept, impulse, positive relationship with goals, and negative relationship with openness. It was found that difficulty in emotion regulation positively affected treatment motivation and anxious attachment style predicted this factor. In order to prevent relapse and increase treatment motivation in patients with substance use disorder, it is recommended to support the development of conscious awareness with safe attachment style, and to identify and regulate emotion regulation difficulties and to plan interventions to eliminate them.
