Abstract (EN)

Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the perceived family characteristics of substance abusers and adolescents, the effect of family habits on substance use, and the socio-demographic centers of targeted adolescents and their substance use purposes. Materials and Methods: The research is a case-control study. Number distribution and statistics of the data, Kolmogorov Smirnov normality test, Mann Whitney U test were used to evaluate the data. The statistical flexibility level was accepted as 0.05. The case group of our study consisted of 96 adolescents between the ages of 14-18 who had substance abuse when the data and data were collected, who were treated in the Manisa Psychiatry Hospital Child and Youth Psychiatry Outpatient Unit. The control group consisted of 311 adolescents from three high schools located in the center of Manisa. Data were used between October 2021 and March 2022, 'Descriptive Information Form' and 'Family Rating Scale'. Results: 77.1% of the substance-using adolescents were 15 years and older, 50% were male, 58.3% had a family, 92.7% had a home, 40.6% lived in a metropolitan area. , 57.3% of them have income equal to expenses, 80.2% of them are mothers and fathers alive, 53.1% of them have difficulty in education of mothers above primary school, 69.8% of them are housewives, 60%, It was found that 4 of them were above primary school in the father's education house, and 39.6% were workers of the father's profession. Of the adolescents who use substance, 75.2% of them are 15 years old and over, 53.1% are male, 77.8% are likely family, 98.7% are home, 65.6% are live in a metropolitan city, 74.6% of them have income equal to their expenses, 91% of them have mothers and fathers alive, 70.4% of them have a mother's education above primary school, 54.3% of them are housewives, 86%, It was determined that 5 of them had their father's education house above primary school, and 49.8% of them were workers. Conclusion: It was found that there was a significant difference between the substance use status of the adolescents and the average scores of the family evaluation sub-dimensions (p<0.05), and the average scores of the adolescents who used substances were higher than the average scores of the adolescents who did not use substances in all sub-dimensions.
