Abstract (EN)
The aim of this research is to develop the teacher?s manual supported by 4E model with academic skills processes for 6 th grade students for the topic `the particular structure of the matter? and to investigate the success of this prepared material for the academic process skills and its effectiveness in education process. The prepared material for the 6th grade students for the unit `the particullar structure of the matter? should be used to develop the academic process skills of students and it should be often used in the curriculum. It is thought that this material contribute a lot to the teachers for their applications in their classes. The new alternative evaluation approaches included into the new 2004-2005 Primary school program that tests not only the result but also the whole programme was used to analyse the learning process of the students in detail. In this respect, it is thought that this study can enlighten the teachers who want to improve his way of teaching . This study was carried on based on semi experimental method. The research sample of the study consists of 25 experimental and 23 control group students attending to the primary school in AMASYA city center. To obtain data before and after the process, multiple choice tests about The particular structure of the matter and scientific process skills were used . The test about the particular structure of the matter was developed by the researcher and the realibility score of the test was found as .75 . The scientific process skill tests were developed by Enger and Yager and thei realibility cofficiency was found .81. When the obtained data investigated , there was no meaningful difference between the experimental and control groups in terms on scientific process skill levels of the students before the application. However there was a great difference atfet the application between these two groups. nevertheless , it can be said that both techniques improve a significant difference among the level of the students on their scientific process skills. The last test results obtained from the scientific process skills and academic success tests proved that there was meaningful difference between the scores of the experimental and control groups. The group that use 4E model belongigg to the experimental group learned how to use the scientific process skilss developed by the researcher and improved their skills. As a result, it can be claimed that if the particular srtructure of the matter unit developed related to the 4E model was taught efficiently in the classroom, the students can learn all the concepts and the other details of the unit properly. Based on the results of the research, the teachers should investigate the details of the new primary school program and in service training should be given to the teachers for the application.The teachers should be aware about the effectiviness of the scientific process skills and they should use them during their teaching sessions.
