Abstract (EN)

IV THE INVESTIGATION OF UTILIZATION POSSIBILITY EAST- MADENŞEHIRI (KONYA - KARAMAN ) PUMICE STONE AS LIGHT WEIGHT CONCRETE PRODUCT (M.Sc. Thesis) Osman ŞİMŞEK GAZI UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY November 1987 ABSTRACT Light pumice stone aggregates have been collected from the eastern zone of Madenşehiri (Konya - Karaman) and based on the Turkish Standard No 1114 criterias following tests have been realised on the samples: Unit weight, organik matter content, fine matter content, water suction ratio, heating loss and unit volum weight. As the test results match very well with the standard's criteries, these material can be easily used as the aggregate of concrete. These tested aggregates of pumice stone have good results as the beam made of light concrete according to TS 2511. To reduce the costs and to increase the strenght of compressive stress, Soma B power plant ash has been used as additive material. Using different percentage of light ash with cement / ash, fine aggregate / ash, and fine aggregates with cement and ash mixture, sample cube cement blocks of 15 x 15 x 15 centimeterswere poured. The most suitable light concrete obtained from these mixtures of 35% fine aggregates / light ash showed the following properties of 175 kN / m2 compressive strength; 16,80 kN / m3unit weight.
