Evaluating the place of popular geographic magazines at geography teaching

Özet (EN)

ABSTRACT Aim of the research is to determine opinions higher school students about the popular geography magazines which are defined as alternative sources for geography teaching. A poll was taken as a tool for gathering data. The poll was applied to 194 students of Gazi University Gazi Faculty of Education Geography teaching department. In analysing the sub-problems of the research; one-way variance analysis (ANOVA) was done; frequency, percentage and arithmetical average were used. Average of the evaluators attended to the research stated that they found the magazines scientific. They said that the magazines prevent them to forget their knowledge and strengthen the informations they got in the faculty, also the photos are strenghtener to their education. While opinions of higher school geography students about the place of popular geography magazines on geography teaching do not show meaningful difference according to graduated high school or income factors, class grade and regularly read magazine factors showed a meaningful difference. While high school geography students' oppinions about the place of popular geography magazines in geography teaching showed a meaning pul difference according to class grade factor in aim, content, language-exposition and visually aspects; according to the factor of regularly read magazines, the showed a meaning pul difference in of aim and content but showed a meaning pul difference in language exposition and visualty aspects.
