The methodology of Mahmûd bin Muhammed al-Arrânî in thebook of al-Kefîyetu fî Sharhi'sh-Shafiye and his attitudeagainst other scholars

In the 13th and 14th centuries, studies were conducted in various branches of knowledge in Azerbaijan, and the scholars of these studies trained many students and wrote valuable works. Those scholars wrote numerous works on Islamic sciences such as hadith, tafsir, and fiqh, Arabic language and rhetoric, contributing to Islamic civilization and intellectual heritage. Various studies have been conducted on these scholars so far, and their scholarly works on Arabic linguistics and literature have been examined. However, these studies don't seem sufficient. One scholar waiting to get recognised is Mahmud b.Muhammad al-Arrani al-Sakinani, from Azerbaijan's Arran region and is thesis subject. Sekineni wrote a commentary on Ibn al-Hajib's morphology book, al-Shafiya, titled al-Kafiya. This research focuses on al-Arrani's life, the methodology of his commentary al-Kafiya fi-Sharh al-Shafiya, his attitude towards linguists of time and before him, his place and importance in Arabic linguistics. The thesis contains an "Introduction," four chapters, and "Conclusion." The "Introduction" provides information on research subject, importance, purpose, methodology, and morphology history, grammatical schools, foundations of disagreement between Basra-Kufa schools. Chapter one covers the lives, works, and scholarly personalities of Ibn al-Hajib and Mahmud b.Muhammad al-Arrani, while chapter two focuses on methodology of Muhammad al-Arran's book, al-Kafiya fi-Sharh al-Shafiyya. His attitude towards previous grammar scholars is examined in chapter three. His stance towards the author of al-Shafiyya, Ibn-al-Hajib, and other commentators is addressed in chapter four. "Conclusion" based on research findings. Thesis aims to enrich the limited information about this scholar, his work, and to reveal his scholarly views and methodology based on the work itself.
