Mahmud Celaleddin Pasha's divan, analysis-text

Mahmut Celâleddin Pasha was a 19th century Divan poet besides his being a statesman and a barrister. On contrary to the new literature movement of his time, he maintained the custom of Divan poetry. He wrote poems illustrating wholly the futures of this kind of poetry. The printed copy of the work which is studied in this paper was written by Mahmut Celâleddin Pasha the temporary governor of Girit; and it is available in the library of Marmara University; Faculty of Theology. A handwritten copy of this piece of art which was printed in 1894 does not exist. (1311 according to the Muslim calendar)In this paper it is aimed at introducing the piece of art which is the topic of my thesis and its author; in addition to the effort of contributing to the researches in Divan literature. Hence; the life of Mahmut Celâleddin Pasha; his literary personality, musical talent and his work are tried to be presented in this paper. His poems in the work are analyzed in the aspects of form and content.Common research techniques were followed analyzing this piece of art.
