Abstract (EN)

Literature is a term that comes into existence in life and is life itself. Everything that is lived through in life is reflected in literature. Turkish literature has been conveying the culture, the taste and the experience of the Turkish people since ancient times. In our literary history, Divan literature is a literary tradition which formed during the Ottoman period and reflects the characteristics of that period. Today we are able to access Divan literature through various sources. Mecmuas have an important place as one of these sources. In a mecmua we can come across the poetry of many poets who lived at that time. In this sense, mecmua is like a treasure that holds many precious things inside. We can also think of mecmua as a rainbow that reflects the art and literature of the time it was written. The subject of our study, the journal of "Mahzen-i Maarif ve Mecma'ı Letaif" registered at Supplement Turkc 1035 in Paris National Library, contains praise poems written for Ottoman Sultan Ahmed I, who ruled between 1603-1617. Although kaside is the first thing that springs to mind when we speak of praise, other forms of verse were also used in the mecmua to praise Sultan Ahmed I. The acts of Sultan Ahmed I were also reflected in the poetry. The aim of this study is to reveal how the period of Sultan Ahmed I is reflected in our literature and show that divan literature is not isolated from social and political life. The study is comprised of two sections. The first section is devoted to the description of the mecmua, the poets, the forms of verse and the content of the poems in the mecmua. In the second section, the transcription of the text is given. Keywords: Divan literature, mecmua, kaside, Sultan Ahmed I
