Abstract (EN)

The aim of this thesis is to clarify the North Macedonia name issue, which has been a subject of discussion for years within the framework of a constructivist approach and has not yet been resolved, and to bring a perspective to both practitioners and the academic community within the framework of the discussions in the literature. In this context, it is planned to include the construction of Turkish identity in comparative culture, the construction of Albanian identity and the construction of Macedonian identity in order to clearly reveal the problematic of North Macedonia. Particularly the regional and international actors' approach to the Macedonian problem will turn our main problem into a multi-layered one. Especially supporting the study with up-to-date discussions and the interpretation of the process leading to the Prespa Agreement from a different perspective also adds a multi-faceted identity to the work. In the first part of this thesis, classical theories in international relations will be defined from the perspective of constructivism, and in the second part of the study, the North Macedonia name problem will be presented in the historical process. Again in this context, it is planned to include the construction of Macedonian-Albanian-Turkish identities. In the third part of the study, the approach of regional and international actors to the Macedonian problem, the Prespa Agreement and the process leading to this agreement and its results are discussed.
