Anatomic and fonksi̇yonel results in macular hol surgery

To evaluate anatomic and fonctional success of vitreoretinal surgery(VRS) and assosiated complications in macular hole(MH) surgery. This retrospective study was conducted in accordance with the tenets of the Decalaration of Helsinki, with local ethical approval from Atatürk University Scholl of Medicine, Ophtalmology Departmant. Data of 33 patients(36 eyes) with advanced MH who underwent VRS between 1 January 2013 and 15 August 2016 were studied respectly. Age of patients included in the study ranged from 25 to 85 years(average 67,9 ±10,6). Male to female ratio was 12/21(36,3% ;63,6%). There were 6 eyes(%16,7) with stage 2, 11 eyes (%30,6) with stage 3, 19 eyes(%52,8) with stage 4 MH. Best corrected visual acuity(BCVA) in logMARsystem was found to be 1,09±0,37 before surgery and 0,81±0,50 after surgery. Average symptom period among patients was 7,08±7,95 months(1-36 months). Following 23 G PPV, by using dual(brillant and tripan blue) dye ILM as well as ERM(if present) were identified peeled and intraocular C3F8gas tamponade applied. All patients advised to stay in facedown position for seven days after surgery. The average follow-up time was15,77 months. After evaluation of all 36 eyes; the anatomic and functional success achived was %86,11 (in 31 eyes) and %75 (in 27 eyes) respectively. During surgery iatrogenic retinotomy developed in 1 patient(%2,8). Morever cridtslline lens capsular perforation developed in 1 patient(%2,8) due to posterior capsular touch. While cataract formation was found in 16 patients(%44,4), medically controlled high presure develope in only 1 patient(%2,8) postoperatively. The difference of BCVA in pre and post operative period was statistically significant.
